Responsibilities Work in a 32-bed Telemetry Observation Unit within an acute care hospital setting Patient population consists of adults and geriatrics with respiratory and medical diagnoses, including trach care (not vented) Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 6 Monitor Techs are available 24 / 7; RNs are responsible for reviewing telemetry strips each shift Common titratable drips managed include Heparin, Cardizem (up to 15mg / hr), Lasix, Dopamine (low dose), and Amiodarone Uses Epic EMR for documentation Night shifts are 12 hours (6 : 45 pm – 7 : 15 am) with every other weekend and rotating holiday requirements Floating may be required to Med-Surg units or the Emergency Department for boarded patients Block scheduling is permitted if unit needs are met Responsibilities include assessment, monitoring, titrating cardiac drips, and providing trach care Team includes 24 / 7 Charge RN, House Supervisor, and Nurse Aides with role support ratios adjusted by shift Full day of nursing orientation and two 12-hour preceptor shifts provided before starting independently Dress code requires solid navy scrubs with closed-toed shoes and limited logo wear Block scheduling available by request and subject to unit needs Holiday coverage rotates with core staff and may consider individual preferences based on prior year scheduling Applicants must be willing to float as needed Initial Skills Checklist is due within 90 days of start date Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Current certifications in ACLS and BLS are required Minimum of 2 years Med-Surg / Telemetry experience, including critical drips and trach care Previous travel RN experience is required Experience with peritoneal dialysis is preferred Charge RN responsibilities may be required for interested candidates Applicants must not have worked at any WVU Medicine location in the past 2 years and may not exceed one year cumulative travel within WVU without a 2-year break No local travelers within a 50-mile radius Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-633203.
