Behavioral Health Professional - Licensed (Team Care Behavioral Health)
Location : Helena, MT
Job Summary :
The Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) is an integral member of the primary care team, providing brief, evidence-based, solution-focused behavioral health services. The BHP supports patients with mental health, substance use, chronic conditions, and life stressors through short, focused appointments (15-30 minutes), delivered in-person, via telehealth, or by phone. The role emphasizes functional restoration, patient empowerment, and collaboration with the primary care team to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments, including diagnostic evaluation, risk assessment, and level-of-care determination.
- Provide brief therapeutic interventions, crisis management, and patient / family education.
- Maintain a minimum of 4 patient contacts per day (after 6 months).
- Collaborate with primary care providers to develop and implement care plans.
- Monitor patient progress, using standardized screening tools, and communicate updates to the care team.
- Complete professional billing accurately and timely for behavioral health services.
- Assess and manage suicidal, homicidal, or abuse risk; coordinate with crisis teams or authorities as needed.
- Support population health outreach and proactive patient engagement.
- Provide consultation and training to primary care staff on behavioral health and substance use topics.
Qualifications :
Education : Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling.Experience : 1-3 years clinical experience, preferably in primary care.Licensure / Certification : Montana LCSW or LCPC license required; BLS required; credentialing with payors within 3 months of hire.
