The Systems Administrator will design, optimize, and sustain virtualized, Windows, and Linux-based infrastructure supporting DARPA's mission-critical operations. This role involves 24/7 system reliability, advanced troubleshooting, virtualization engineering, OS management, patching, policy documentation, and continuous performance tuning across highly secure classified environments.

Position: Systems Administrator
Location: Arlington, VA - Onsite, Mon-Fri
Clearance: TS/SCI
Contract Duration: 3+ years
Interview Process: Two virtual rounds
Compensation: $65-75/hr
Key Responsibilities:
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization through capacity analysis and planning.
• Design, deploy, and administer VMware-based virtualized environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and infrastructure issues.
• Install, configure, and manage Windows Server systems.
• Apply OS and system patches to maintain security and performance.
• Ensure continuous functionality and 24/7 monitoring of assigned networks.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on hardware and software.
• Identify and implement innovative technologies to improve operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain technology policies, standards, and procedures.
• Perform administrative and operational tasks aligned with established guidelines.
• Support additional responsibilities as assigned to meet mission objectives.
Technical Skills:
• Windows Server Administration
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Administration
• VMware / Virtualization
• Active Directory, DNS, GPO, LDAP, DHCP
• SCCM / OS management
• SAN / Storage technologies
• PowerShell scripting
• Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
• Infrastructure troubleshooting
Key Requirements:
• Top Secret SCI clearance
• 5+ years of experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• DoD IAT Level III Certification (Level II also listed among top qualifications).
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Experience with AD, DNS, GPO, DHCP, LDAP, and Windows/Linux infrastructure.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience optimizing Citrix environments for performance and scalability.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities in secure, high-demand environments.
• Strong documentation experience with policies, standards, and procedures.
