• Minimum :
• Associate's degree and one (1) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• Preferred :
• Familiarity with business processes and analysis functions, or directly related health insurance / managed care system experience.
• Customer servicing experience or prior experience in resolving customer problems, grievances or appeals.
• Two (2) years of experience in writing and editing.
• Professional skills / knowledge and / or Technical skills / knowledge :
• Minimum :
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Consistently produces accurate, high-quality work, especially in data entry tasks.
• Preferred
• Familiarity with NCQA standards and Federal and State health care regulation affecting member rights and responsibilities.
• Familiarity with health care coding systems such as CPT-4 and ICD-9.
• Statement of work
• Handles intake of member and provider calls, faxes, email correspondence, and internal referrals; evaluate information and determine the best course of action
• Analyze sensitive member and provider appeals, inquiries and grievances, applying internal policies and procedures, contractual provisions, and regulatory requirements.
• Creates and maintains accurate electronic case files for appeals and grievances from members and providers within the scope of internal policies and procedures, and regulatory timeframe requirements
• Handles complex member and provider requests by listening, understanding needs, and communicating professionally with internal / external customers.
• Triage cases during initial inquiry to resolve issues promptly and minimize case escalation.

• Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00 / hr.
