We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant to join a family-owned construction company in Rochester, New York. In this position, you will play a key role in managing daily financial operations and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records. Responsibilities :
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
 - Perform daily financial entries and reconcile accounts during month-end closing.
 - Process payroll data with a focus on accuracy, using Sage 300 software.
 - Assist in transitioning payroll operations to an external service provider.
 - Utilize HH2 software for accounts payable document entry and ensure proper integration with Sage systems.
 - Maintain and update the general ledger, preparing journal entries as needed.
 - Ensure the integrity of financial data through meticulous review and organization.
 - Work closely with team members to address accounting-related queries and provide support.
 - Adhere to company policies and accounting standards to maintain compliance.
 - Contribute to a collaborative office environment by sharing responsibilities and communicating effectively.
 - Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.
 - Familiarity with Sage 300 and HH2 software is preferred, though training will be provided.
 - Proficiency in QuickBooks and general accounting software systems.
 - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
 - Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
 - Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and journal entries.
 - Comfortable working in a small office setting with shared responsibilities.
 - Tech-savvy with the ability to adapt to new systems and processes.
