Substation Engineer

Job Description

This position falls within the substation department, where you will work on projects supporting utility customers with minimal direction. You will collaborate with both in-house and client engineers and designers, providing training and guidance to lower-level engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop project scopes, one-line diagrams, and estimates for substation projects.
• Review substation construction drawings and verify compliance with codes and standards.
• Engineer and design lightning protection, grounding, and equipment replacement and repair for substations.
• Make necessary changes and corrections to drawings and documentation.
• Verify the proper use of equipment and material according to project documentation standards and codes.
• Ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials and equipment for substation construction.
• Travel to project sites for walk downs and gather information to develop project requirements.
• Function as a project lead for substation projects.
• Coordinate work activities within the department to complete substation projects.
• Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.
• Initiate corrective action when project objectives are not being met.
• Work under the supervision of higher-level engineers.
• Occasional site visits are required.
