Director / Senior Managing Consultant, Services Business Development - Retail & Commerce

Our purpose and role : Mastercard Services encompasses Mastercard's offerings beyond the transaction. We provide customers across industries and geographies with a tailored portfolio of solutions to address their business pain points. By harnessing real-time, anonymized and aggregated transaction data, powerful software platforms and deep expertise, we empower customers to unlock a holistic view of consumer behavior, distill actionable insights and make data-driven decisions. We serve financial institutions, retailers, telecommunications organizations, travel companies and more, to solve business problems end to end.

As a member of the Core Accounts Services Business Development team, you will generate excitement and demand for Retail, Travel, or Restaurant clients. We value individuals with consultative sales experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, comfort navigating complex sales processes, and the ability to form and manage lasting client relationships. As Senior Managing Consultant, you will drive growth of Mastercard’s Services portfolio, manage strategic client relationships, initiate contact with potential new customers to generate and qualify leads, and promote Mastercard’s Services products to drive sales across our services solution set : Consumer Acquisition & Engagement, Business & Market Intelligence, Open Finance and Security Solutions.

  • Cultivate strong working relationships with clients, ensuring effective collaboration and engagement while driving revenue growth and expanded buying centers.
  • Demonstrate networking skills and confidence initiating contact with new prospects to generate and qualify leads.
  • Maintain a customer-first attitude, uncovering needs beyond explicit requests and crafting innovative customer strategies.
  • Take ownership of the sales process from prospecting to executing complex contracts, ensuring efficient sales cycles and urgency with clients.
  • Be responsible for achieving sales targets, revenue goals, and projections, delivering strong personal performance.
  • Lead pitches, from storyboarding to presentations, tailoring materials to the audience’s needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine engagement scope in line with business objectives and client requirements.
  • Support project and customer success teams in problem-solving and planning.
  • Create and deliver concise presentations communicating key insights and recommendations.
  • Coach and provide feedback to team members to foster professional growth.
  • Proactively seek new knowledge and contribute to intellectual capital within the organization.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated excellence and career development in a B2B sales role.
  • Experience selling across Retail, Restaurant or Travel sectors, including enterprise and mid-market clients.
  • Expertise in selling services and insights across industries, bringing key contacts to the conversation, driving new relationships, and managing end-to-end sales.
  • Proven self-starter with a track record of success in a team-oriented environment.
  • B2B sales experience, preferably in data / analytics / insights, loyalty or professional services.
  • Experience selling solutions to C-level clients.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Strong written and oral communication and persuasion skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex challenges.
  • Experience managing projects and teams, with demonstrated leadership.
  • Technical fluency and ability to discuss technology solutions and industry trends.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical products.
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders across markets and divisions.
  • High energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, and commitment.
  • Excellent multitasking in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business / Commerce / Economics / Finance / Marketing / Management or related field; MBA or relevant post-graduate degree preferred.
  • National Salary Range (Applies Regardless of Location) : $164,000-$262,000
