EMC / EMI Engineer - Antenna, Hardware Development

Job Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Amazon seeks an Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility (EMI and EMC) Engineer to join the Antenna Team. As a Kuiper EMC / EMI engineer you will develop requirements, review designs and build test capability for complex payload subsystems for low-earth-orbit satellites. In this role you will influence decision makers on the process, procedures and necessary tests required to achieve EMI / EMC qualified hardware. You will execute tests and provide leadership for other engineers and technicians during test campaigns. The key responsibilities of the role are :

• \tDefine requirements for testing and qualifying subsystems
• \tPerform analysis of radiated emissions and susceptibility (RE / RS)
• \tDevelop models for interference and shielding issues to mitigate and control emissions and susceptibility.
• \tWork with electronic component design teams to communicate requirements related to electromagnetic environments such as shielding, grounding, bonding and isolation
• \tWork with subsystem design owners on EMI related challenges
• \tDefine and coordinate EMI and EMC testing for a satellite and its subsystems
• Coordinate requirements and validation with Launch Providers’ EMI and EMC teams.
• \tDevelop and maintain EMI / EMC test labs and equipment and support execution of EMI / EMC testing for a satellite and its subsystems
• \tIdentify emission and susceptibility non-conformance. Debug all failures to root-cause and provide manufacturable solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- PhD or Master in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related degree

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000 / year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
