A full‑time position is available for a Psychiatrist in the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) in the VA North Texas Health Care System—Mental Health Service (VANTHCS MHS) in Dallas, Texas. Recruitment or Relocation Incentive may be authorized for highly qualified individuals. Education Debt Reduction Program is authorized.
Base Pay Range
$200,000.00 / yr – $282,480.00 / yr
Qualifications
- United States Citizenship : Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Education : Doctor of Medicine or equivalent; degree from a VA‑approved school.
- License : Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state, territory, or district.
- Residency Training : Must have completed a VA‑approved accredited core specialty residency leading to board certification.
- Physician Resident Providers : Eligibility for those in accredited residency programs who meet basic requirements.
- English Language Proficiency : Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred Experience : ABPN board certified or eligible; buprenorphine treatment experience; addiction psychiatry board certified or eligible.
- Physical Requirements : Moderate lifting (15–44 lb), moderate carrying, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands, walking (8 h), vision and hearing requirements, mental and emotional stability.
Duties
Providing comprehensive psychiatric medical care (assessment, consultation, treatment) to patients in the RRTP, a residential program for veterans with addictions and substance use disorders.Diagnosing and prescribing pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy for substance use disorders, mood, anxiety, psychotic disorders, PTSD, and other psychiatric conditions.Collaborating with a multidisciplinary mental health team at Dallas VA Medical Center and the larger VANTHCS residential programs.Engaging in medical student, resident, and fellow education and providing clinical supervision to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.Participating in ongoing research in addiction psychiatry, PTSD, and related fields.Adhering to a Monday–Friday 08 : 00–16 : 30 schedule with light on‑call responsibilities; telework not eligible.Recruitment and relocation incentive options and eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).Seniority Level
