Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Neonatal ICU Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Nights Hours per Shift : 11.50 hours Experience : Minimum 2 years preferred License : Registered Nurse License Certifications : ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have : BSN prepared, competent in vent / tracheostomy and gastrostomy tubes, medication titration, and A-lines. Description : Utilize the nursing process in the provision of direct patient care. Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating all care provided to assigned patients. Delivery of care is based on the standards of care and practices established by the Department of Nursing and other relevant policies and procedures. Diagnose and treat human responses to actual and potential health problems through services such as case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of care supportive or restorative of life and well-being. Supervise patient care provided by licensed practical nurses, registered nurses on permit, nursing attendants, technicians, and supplemental staff. Assess the immediate and continuing care needs of the patient and significant other. Develop comprehensive and current plans of care which include physical needs, patient teaching, and discharge planning, as well as psychosocial / spiritual needs. Provide direct patient care based on assessed needs and the medical regimen. Oversee and ensure the provision of all aspects of care for the patient. Supervise the care provided by other nursing personnel as defined in the scope of practice. Observe, evaluate, document, and communicate to relevant team members the patient's response to illness and therapeutic modalities. Ensure timely reassessment of patient responses to treatment and when significant changes occur in patient condition or diagnosis. Coordinate the overall plan of care to ensure implementation of nursing interventions and consistency with the medical regimen. Establish priorities for care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and initiate follow-up as indicated. Assure the plan of care integrates age-specific care needs. Accept responsibility and accountability for nursing interventions and outcomes based on professional clinical judgments. Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care delivery and the development of nursing standards. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, manage stressful situations, and facilitate interpersonal relationships with other disciplines. Participate in the orientation of nursing staff as assigned. Assume charge responsibilities as delegated. Ensure appropriate coverage of all patients by assisting and relieving co-workers, and working in other areas as assigned. Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Serve as a clinical resource for student nurses. Participate in meetings, committees, conferences, and educational programs. Engage in research and pilot projects supported by the Nursing Department. Demonstrate responsibility for continuing professional growth and education. Participate in appropriate professional and community organizations. Good interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to fully utilize electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare systems relevant to this position. No experience is required but some experience is preferred. Schedule includes nights, three days per week, and every other weekend required.
