Job description :
The Patient Care Associate (PCA) provides hands-on care and performs patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities as directed by the licensed nurse. Specific tasks vary within the behavioral health unit, but aspects of a patient's essential daily functions may include, but not limited to the following : eating, dressing, bathing, documenting q15 minute checks, delivering messages, serving meals, making beds, and tidying up rooms. Also, observation of the patient's physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reports any change to the nurse assigned to the patient's plan of care.

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Well-lighted, well-ventilated work areas.
Physically engaged to include, but not limited to the following : Sits, stands, walks, bends and stoops throughout the workday; required to lift up to 20 lbs independently using safe lifting practices.
Possible exposure to bodily fluids and infections.
Deals with patients, families, and staff under often stressful conditions.
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS :
High school graduate or equivalent education required.
Previous hospital Patient Care Associate (PCA) experience, current certified nursing assistant (CNA) and / or emergency medical technician (EMT) license required. Nursing student who has completed the fundamentals or introduction to nursing course will be considered. Behavioral health experience preferred.
Ability to read, write, and interprets verbal and written communications using the English language.
Ability to perform basic math.
Basic computer skills preferred.
