Construction Field Engineer Internship-Summer 2026

Overview

William Charles Construction, part of MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group, is in search of Construction Field Engineer Interns for the Summer 2026 to support our Springfield, IL office. The Field Engineer Intern will focus on assisting with providing support to the Project Manager and Construction Manager of their assigned project. General responsibilities include assisting with implementation of the project specific Quality Plan, site specific plans, material inventory and receiving.

Travel & Location : This is a traveling position encompassing work sites in Central Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Performs field survey work regarding layout and tracking of work activities, utilizing PC based software and GPS station / field equipment.
• Assist with managing project specific quality control records and ensuring that required reporting is accomplished.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating to ensure that all required audits / inspections are performed and documented.
• Assist with material inventory and receiving paperwork.
• Assist with final job closeout, as-builts, job binder creation.
• Assist with subcontractor scheduling and management
• Assist with RFI (Request for Information) submittals
• Extended work hours and weekend work may be required.
• Will provide other duties as assigned.

Compensation $20-$21 / hour. This is a temporary position, no company benefits are offered.
