Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with trauma and triage experience, active ID or compact license, and evening shift availability.
Responsibilities
Work in a Level 3 Trauma Emergency Room within an acute hospital settingUnit has 25 beds, 3 trauma bays, 3 triage rooms, and designated safer rooms for behavioral healthHandles a diverse ER patient population including adult and pediatric cases, trauma, STEMIs, strokes, prioritized traumas, and behavioral healthAverage ER census is 109 patients per day with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4Required to titrate all critical drips and provide procedural sedation for adult and pediatric patientsEpic EMR is used; Epic experience preferred but not requiredEvening shift positions with 12-hour shifts; typical start times between 1 : 00 PM and 6 : 30 PMEvery other weekend and holiday rotation coverage requiredMay be asked to float to other ER zones or units for tasking onlyNo local candidates accepted; candidate must live 50 miles or more from facilityPrimary responsibilities include performing 12-lead EKGs, supporting providers, and managing high-acuity ER casesWill work with a team of physicians, PAs, NPs, and CNAs, with in-house security and 24 / 7 respiratory therapy supportRNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry stripsRN will assist with blood draws on IV starts; phlebotomy available on requestMust wear navy blue scrubs as per dress codeUnit-specific orientation is provided for 1-2 days with preceptor support and ongoing feedbackMaximum of 5 days RTO allowed per contract; no blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests acceptedFormer permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applyingAssignment does not accept local travelers within a 50-mile radius of the facilityRequirements
Active ID or compact state RN license at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years ER nursing experience with at least 1 year trauma and triage experienceCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC; ENPC preferredExperience titrating critical gtts and procedural sedation for both adults and pediatricsExperience with fast-paced, high-acuity environments and monitoring telemetryTwo professional references required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and eligibility for rehireCopy of driver’s license requiredNo first-time travelers; must have completed at least 2-3 travel assignmentsBenefits
