Description

A Senior Phlebotomist is responsible for clinical laboratory duties, including :

All Sites : Reception and Telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS / LIS systems; specimen handling : receiving and processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories; specimen / patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned.

If assigned to a site where offered : Dispatch functions, EKG performance, collection of DOT and non-DOT drug screens, for cause drug screens (HR), and Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT); clinic relief fill-in

Communication Requirements : respectful and patient communications (written and verbal) with patients, clients, other lab staff, and caregivers from other departments.

Required Qualifications :

  • upon hire : Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
  • 2 years experience in a clinical lab setting,
  • Experience 7 of the basic skills described in the essential functions of the job description,

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Coursework / Training : Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training Program / Course approved by WA State.
