Job descriptionNative or near-native fluency in Bulgarian and English. 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, or government preferred). Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity. Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to stay accurate under pressure. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3 / Tier 5 clearance. Competitive pay : $25–30 / hour. Remote work with secure USCIS-approved platforms. Paid training and professional development. Steady workflow under a federal contract. Career advancement opportunities in quality assurance or project leadership. Position
Bulgarian Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Bulgarian is a priority Balkan language, often requested for immigration, asylum, and refugee cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Bulgarian English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
- Interpret with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to USCIS / DHS compliance standards.
- Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent / surge requests.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
