Occupational Therapist – Travel Position

Location : Wausau, WI

Job Type : Travel Contract

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 5x8s Days

Pay : $2,355 / week

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join a facility in Wausau, WI, on a travel contract. The Occupational Therapist will evaluate and treat patients recovering from illness, surgery, or injury, with a focus on restoring independence in activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and functional performance. The ideal candidate is patient-centered, adaptable, and experienced in rehabilitation therapy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations to assess patients’ functional abilities, cognitive skills, and therapy needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions including ADL retraining, mobility exercises, strengthening, and adaptive techniques.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapy objectives, safety practices, and the use of assistive equipment.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and treatment sessions accurately and in compliance with facility standards.
  • Collaborate with physical therapy, speech therapy, and nursing staff to ensure coordinated, patient-focused care.
  • Support recovery, independence, and quality of life through evidence-based therapy practices.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current and valid Occupational Therapist license in Wisconsin (or compact license).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent OT experience in a rehabilitation or acute care setting.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Compassionate approach with experience working with diverse patient populations.
