Job Title
Under general supervision, the person in this role performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled tasks relating to the maintenance and repair of the Water Divisions' equipment, facilities, and processes. The schedule will consist of approximately 24-28 hours per week, performed from Monday-Friday within the hours of 7 : 00 am and 3 : 30 pm, with some flexibility.
Examples of Duties
Cut grass and trim weeds at the Water facility. Maintain and repair facility grounds; trim bushes, trees, and shrubs; perform concrete work; paint buildings and facilities; perform custodial duties and spread mulch throughout the Water and Wastewater facilities. Empty trash cans and pick up trash around the facilities. Operate equipment such as tractors, mowers, chain saws, and various other hand and power tools. Manually shovel and move salt, dirt, snow, etc.; frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs. Perform all other duties as assigned. Perform all duties in a safe manner per applicable Federal, State and local rules and regulations.
Typical Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; valid driver's license. Effective communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to understand and follow oral and written communication and instructions. Mechanical aptitude, general knowledge of the use and care of hand tools and power equipment. Ability to operate large motor vehicles. Appreciation for hazards involved in construction and maintenance work. Basic computer competency with word processing and data entry.

Physical and Environmental Requirements : Must have the physical stamina required to perform the job duties and responsibilities. Moderate physical activity is required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp and feel. Requires regular use of hands and feet to operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms, often with repetitive motion. Maximum unassisted lift is 50 lbs. Frequently required to stand, talk and hear. Requires ability to communicate verbally in person, via telephone, radio and internet. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures. The worker is also required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and / or heavy mechanical equipment and tools. Work is regularly performed outside often in hazardous weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and / or remote places such as trenches, drywells, creek banks, hillsides, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia. May require travel by car / truck and driving to distant sites. Ability to react to warning signals, both visual and auditory. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, and is frequently exposed to wet and / or humid conditions and vibration. May sometimes be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Personal protective equipment is required.
