Travel Respiratory Therapist (RT) – West Orange, NJ

Shift : Nights, 3x12s (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM)

Schedule : Rotating weekends

Start Date : ASAP

We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a night shift travel contract in West Orange, NJ . This role involves delivering high-quality, intensive respiratory care in a fast-paced hospital environment with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities :

Evaluate patients and develop individualized respiratory care plans

Deliver physician-prescribed therapies using various invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment

Administer medications via aerosol and nebulizer therapies

Perform suctioning (oral, nasal, tracheal), chest physiotherapy, and tracheostomy care

Conduct pulmonary function tests (NIF, VC, etc.) and 12-lead EKGs

Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography tools

Assist with respiratory procedures including bronchoscopies, chest tube placements, and percutaneous tracheostomies

Perform arterial punctures and interpret results for ventilation efficiency

Set up and monitor mechanical ventilation, and complete required equipment maintenance

Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of care and communicate updates during shift handoffs

Adhere to infection control, safety, and equipment protocols

Participate in emergency care including CPR and endotracheal intubation

Requirements :

Active Respiratory Therapist license (New Jersey)

BLS and ACLS certifications

Recent hospital-based experience with acute and intensive respiratory care

Comfortable with rotating weekends and night shifts

Proficiency in ventilator management and respiratory therapy documentation
