This role offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale agricultural and conservation engineering projects while providing technical leadership and strategic guidance. The Senior Civil Engineer will design, plan, and oversee engineering projects on agricultural lands, collaborating closely with landowners, conservation partners, and internal teams. This position balances technical expertise with program management, including client engagement, project scoping, and revenue generation. The role is ideal for a highly motivated engineer who thrives in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment and is committed to advancing sustainable agriculture and land stewardship. Remote work is supported, but occasional fieldwork across varied U.S. agricultural landscapes will be required. The position allows the incumbent to shape engineering practices, mentor colleagues, and contribute meaningfully to impactful conservation initiatives.

Accountabilities :

  • Lead design, planning, and construction management for agricultural and conservation engineering projects.
  • Develop topographic surveys, project plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare bid documents, support contractor selection, and conduct pre-bid site conferences.
  • Conduct field inspections and ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, landowners, and external partners to integrate engineering work into broader conservation programs.
  • Create standard operating procedures, training materials, and templates for engineering services.
  • Contribute to fee-for-service revenue generation by engaging clients and supporting business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) from an EAC / ABET-accredited program; Professional Engineer license required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of civil engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on agricultural conservation or farm / ranch viability projects.
  • Strong background in U.S. agricultural settings, ecological restoration, and water resources.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil3D (or similar), land surveying, and construction management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; multilingual abilities highly desired.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and adept at problem-solving within collaborative team environments.
  • Ability to travel to field sites, navigate rough terrain, and work in varying weather conditions.
