Job Description
Job Summary :
Responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, non-emergencies and interfacility transports. Provides efficient and immediate basic life support care to the patient at the scene and enroute to and in the hospital. Treats patients in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, standards and protocols.
Essential Job Duties :
- EMT-Bs will provide an assessment of patients, determine necessary care and deliver emergency services by utilizing appropriate medical techniques and equipment.
- Satisfactorily perform all skills and procedures as designed by the Indiana EMS Commission curriculum
- Document patient information, condition and treatment while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.
- Take pride in providing a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for patients.
- Use appropriate EMT skills to provide care including communications, medical equipment, cleaning procedures, office equipment and tools.
- EMTs operate an ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies, and traffic laws related to the operation of emergency medical response vehicles.
- Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow EMTs.
- Maintain his or her in-service education as prescribed by the Indiana State EMS Agency
Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned :
Participate in community programs to establish strong community relationsHelp maintain a clean and hazard free work environment by performing such cleaning chores as requested both on or in a vehicle and stationPrior to each shift and in accordance with Indiana law, the EMT will account for, check operability of, and be responsible for certifying that all required and basic equipment are operational, functional and located on the assigned unitQualifications
