Transportation Security Officer

Transportation Security Officers are responsible for providing security and protection of travelers across all transportation sectors in a courteous and professional manner. They may also extend to securing high-profile events, important figures, and anything that impacts our transportation systems.

Location : Richlands, NC

Salary : $17.64 - $25.20 per hour

The current starting hourly rate for this position is $17.64. The Transportation Security Administration is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $1,000 for this duty location; half of the bonus after onboarding and the other half to be received after one year of service.

TSA is converting to a new compensation plan on July 2, 2023, which will make TSO salaries significantly more competitive with the implementation of a three-rung, D, E, and F band career ladder.

TSA may apply a gender-specific (male or female) hiring preference to fill TSO positions in order to meet security mission and same gender pat-down job-related requirements.

Duties include operating screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects, performing searches and screening, controlling terminal entry and exit points, interacting with the public, and maintaining focus and awareness in a stressful environment.

Requirements include being a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National, passing a drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation, and being available to work various shifts and overtime, as needed. Mandatory travel for training and occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, GED, HiSET, TASC credential, or at least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician. Proficiency in the English language is required.
