Job description

Join Woodard & Curran's dynamic Stormwater and Flood Resiliency Team as a Stormwater Engineering Project Specialist. In this exciting role, you'll collaborate with our Municipal clients to design, permit, and provide construction services for projects aimed at enhancing flood resilience and improving surface water quality.

We are seeking a meticulous stormwater engineer to contribute to a diverse array of stormwater and flood resiliency projects. Based in our Rye Brook office, you will engage with teams on projects primarily across New York and the Northeast, with opportunities to work on innovative projects nationwide. You will partner with clients, project managers, technical experts, and fellow engineers to evaluate, plan, design, and construct urban stormwater solutions, focusing on flood risk mitigation, stormwater conveyance, stormwater quality, and programmatic funding.

Flexible Remote / Hybrid Work Schedule : Expect to be in the office 1 to 2 days a week or onsite with clients, with travel anticipated at up to 20% within the New York, New Jersey, and New England regions.

Your responsibilities at Woodard & Curran will include :

  • Technical writing and effective communication with clients and regulatory authorities
  • Site design, site grading, erosion & sediment control, and stormwater management design
  • Collaborating with designers to develop comprehensive design plans
  • Preparing local, state, and federal permit application packages
  • Drafting specifications
  • Construction administration
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers
  • Overseeing project tasks and ensuring timely project delivery
  • Applying quality assurance and quality control processes
  • What you will need to excel in this role :

  • 4 to 8 years of experience in flood resiliency and stormwater project design
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Registered Professional Engineer in New York (or ability to apply for reciprocity)
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative mindset to work effectively with clients and team members
  • Understanding of relevant local, state, and federal regulations and standards
  • Compensation : $100,000 - $145,000 per year. The anticipated pay range is flexible and depends on factors such as your primary work location, skills, experience, and education. Example ranges include :

  • New York : $120,000 - $145,000
  • New Jersey, Massachusetts : $110,000 - $140,000
  • Connecticut, New Hampshire : $100,000 - $120,000
  • Maine : $100,000 - $110,000
  • This position's anticipated pay range reflects regional labor cost differences, ensuring equitable compensation based on location and experience.
