American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and advanced certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 24-bed hospital Emergency Department with 4 critical rooms and 1 trauma room
  • Level 4 trauma center with STEMI receiving and stroke center capabilities
  • Intake model used for lower acuity patients with flexible RN-to-patient ratios
  • RN patient ratios : 1 : 4 in general ED, 1 : 2 or 1 : 1 in ICU-level cases within ED
  • Patient population includes chest pain, abdominal pain, minor trauma, respiratory distress, and critical care cases
  • On average, 80–110 patients are seen daily in the ED
  • Separate triage and well-equipped psych rooms available; travelers participate in triage if qualified
  • All beds have telemetry monitoring; RNs are required to read their own strips
  • Cerner EMR is used in the department
  • Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend and floating required between nearby EDs
  • On-call requirement : one on-call shift per 28-day schedule
  • Holiday coverage is required for selected major holidays
  • Block scheduling permitted up to four consecutive shifts
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • RNs manage their own ED holds and may be expected to assist with EKGs and initiate some respiratory treatments
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, mid-levels, techs, paramedics, and house supervisors
  • Department provides a two-day hospital orientation and one 12-hour mentored shift at each ED location
  • Security is present in the ED 24 / 7
  • Holiday shifts are required and scheduling is negotiable among certain holidays
  • RNs are first to float when necessary
  • Candidates who fail required onboarding tests twice will be ineligible for six months
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active AZ or compact RN license is required at the time of application
  • Minimum of 2 years recent ED experience with demonstrated triage and critical care skills
  • Certifications required : ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and either ENPC or PALS
  • Experience in conscious sedation and AMI management required
  • Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique clinical test during orientation
  • Must provide a valid driver’s license for residency verification
  • Two professional references required, including a recent supervisor
  • Candidates must not have worked for any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
