Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Sonographer with at least one year of acute hospital experience and ARDMS and BLS certification.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care hospital setting within the Ultrasound departmentResponsibilities include general, abdominal, OB, thyroid, scrotal, appendix, procedural, para-thoracic, and joint aspiration ultrasound studiesPatient populations include adult, pediatric, and obstetricDepartment handles both inpatient and outpatient cases, as well as ER and L&D on a separate floorCaseload averages 25-33 studies per 24 hoursUses two Philips Epic ultrasound machines and McKesson PACS; EMR is EpicVariable shifts are available, including 8 and 10-hour day or night shiftsWeekend and holiday coverage may be required based on department needsNo call or standby requirements except potentially for holidaysHospital scrubs are provided, or you may wear your own of any colorDuties are focused on a broad mix of general and specialty ultrasound exams; vascular, echo, and DVT experience is not requiredExpect to float between inpatient, outpatient, ER, and L&D as neededThree-shift orientation period before working independentlyResource support is available on day shifts; night shifts require independent workDepartment is staffed 24 / 7 and flexibility for variable scheduling is requiredPermanent employees must have a one-year gap before applying as a travelerWeekend shifts and holiday coverage may be assignedNo blocked scheduling or special shift requests will be accommodatedRequirements
Minimum of 1 year experience as a Sonographer in a hospital setting is required, with preference for more than one year and at least one completed assignmentMust have current unrestricted ARDMS and BLS certificationsActive state license required if applicableDocumented experience with appendix studies (frequently ordered for peds) and some OB experience, including first trimester and anatomy scansExperience working independently during night shiftsFamiliarity with Epic EMR and McKesson PACS is preferredAbility to provide two professional references : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehireCopy of valid driver's license requiredCompliant with 50-mile radius rule; local candidates within 50 miles are not eligibleBenefits
