Understand OSS Communities : motivations and tensions in open source ecosystems. Think Like a Startup Founder : ownership, ambiguity handling, and delivering impact. Love the Craft of Product : focus on UX of UI, CLI, YAML specs, documentation, onboarding experiences for admins and end-users. Thrive in a High-Speed, Low-Structure Environment : prefer solving messy problems and shipping iteratively. Are Relentlessly Curious : ask why, explore alternatives, challenge assumptions, and understand stack depth. Experience scaling usage of open source products. Base pay range : $200,000.00 / yr - $260,000.00 / yr
About vCluster Labs : We are a venture-backed tech startup striving to be the leading force in enabling platform engineers. We raised +$30M from top-tier VCs and are in a hyper-growth phase with a remote-first work culture. Open source is part of our DNA, and our commercial product is based on vCluster, an open-source technology for virtualizing Kubernetes (+10k GitHub stars). Our customer base includes Global Fortune 500 companies and fast-growing tech unicorns.
Responsibilities
- Own the Product End-to-End : manage the full product lifecycle from idea triage, writing specs, prioritizing the roadmap, to final release sign-off after QA.
- Talk to Users & Observe Support / Slack Interactions : connect with platform engineers and developers to understand use cases and user journeys.
- Dig into the Details : focus on usability, edge cases, performance, configuration specs, CLI commands, CRDs / YAML, and docs.
- Collaboration Across Functions : work with engineering, design, marketing and sales to publish release notes and improve onboarding and customer-facing assets.
- Set Direction, Fast : synthesize feedback, make fast, well-reasoned decisions, and ship quickly.
- Course-Correct Quickly as Needed : adapt to new information and explain changes in direction to the team.
- Drive Open Source and Commercial Success : balance open-core features with paid product functionality, driving OSS traction and commercial outcomes.
