Job Summary

The Department of Accounting & Law in the Mike Cottrell College of Business (MCCB) at the University of North Georgia (UNG) invites applicants for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting beginning with the Fall 2026 semester. Applicants are expected to demonstrate exemplary teaching, a strong research pipeline, and currency in their professional field. Quality teaching and student engagement are a high priority in the MCCB. Teaching assignments will include principles of accounting courses, other upper-division courses for undergraduates, and graduate courses. Applicants interested / able to teach audit and / or tax are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Use innovative teaching and learning techniques to provide high-quality Accounting courses
  • Engage in significant and sustained scholarship related to Accounting
  • Engage beyond the classroom with students as faculty academic advisor and as advisor to student clubs and / or related activities to showcase student achievements
  • Engage with the business community to further the goals of the Mike Cottrell College of Business
  • Participate as an active, contributing member to the service activities of the College

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of teaching and learning practices
  • Knowledge of theoretical and applied concepts of accounting
  • Passion for working with students to develop their skills and expertise
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
  • Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate degree in Accounting, preferably from an AACSB-accredited institution, required at the time of hire. CPA licensure is preferred.
  • Substantive and significant industry experience relevant to accounting.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants who have a record of excellent teaching and practice in the areas of auditing or taxation; commitment to accounting education.
