Project Superintendent
The Project Superintendent (PS) will plan, coordinate, and supervise the field and / or administrative operations of projects. They will provide technical direction and have responsibility for the safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and overall quality of the work (including self-performed work) for the project(s). The PS will establish productivity goals and measure performance as well as schedule labor, materials, and equipment, including the work of subcontractors and may supervise one or more field superintendents.
This position includes several 'steps', which provide for a progression of skill and experience.
- Project Superintendent I is capable of less complex projects of $20 million and under with typically 3-5 years' experience in this position.
- Project Superintendent II is capable of medium scale projects of $20-$50 million in size with typically 5-10 years' experience.
Key responsibilities include :
Managing field operations and ensuring project success, including profitability, safety, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.Collaborating with the Project Manager to develop the project management plan (PMP) including the project scope management plan, procurement plan, environmental plan, time management plan, financial plan, quality management and safety plans and risk management plan to ensure successful project execution.Responsible for the development and implementation of the Project Quality Management and Safety plans according to Sundt standards as part of the project management plan (PMP).Providing leadership and guidance to assigned project team members and subcontractors. Plans, reviews, develops and manages the project team to ensure relentless execution of the project.Ensuring work is executed according to contract terms and conditions in a profitable manner.Developing and managing the construction plan for the successful execution of the work performed.Preparing and updating the original CPM Project Schedule and ensuring the schedule is kept current to manage the project appropriately while utilizing LEAN processes and Weekly Work Plans.Conducting weekly coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors and preparing daily field status reports.Interacting effectively with owners, teams and other stakeholders to maintain a positive project environment and exceptional client experience.Assisting in the review of shop drawings, submittals, subcontract change orders and purchase orders.Coordinating the documentation of constructability issues, potential design conflicts and clarifications with the appropriate personnel.Responsible for the timely completion of all punch lists and develops a schedule as required by the owner for the successful start-up and commissioning of all systems.Prevents claims, identify potential claims, quantify, document, mitigate / resolve the effects of those that do occur on a timely basis.
