VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Surgical Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing advanced care and management of patients in a specialty setting. This is a wonderful opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant who desires a challenge and the opportunity to grow and contribute to a collaborative team. The successful candidate will provide high quality veterinary medicine and patient care to both the general practice and emergency service with guidance and mentorship from our LVT team.

• Assisting Veterinarians with appointments
• Make sure all the appropriate bloodwork and workup is available to surgeon for appointment
• Weigh patient and bring to exam room.
• Obtain patient history and start specialized surgery exam record in the computer
• Generate and / or review estimates for surgery and procedures
• Assist DVM with physical exam
• Clean exam room
• Bring patients to surgery prep for bloodwork, put in cage, hand technician filled out check list, write patient on white board.
• Complete examination in record with DVM.
• Assisting morning surgeon with SOAPs
• Enter SOAPs into computer
• Give owners updates and schedule discharges
• Discharge instruction generation
• Fill medications gather belongings
• Discharge patients
• Referral letter generation

Compensation : will vary with experience $20 - 22 / hr

Schedule : (4) Ten hour work days
