About The Position
Job Title : ICU Registered Nurse

License : Current Registered Nurse license
Certifications : Current BLS certification, Current ACLS certification, PALS certification required, Successful completion of arrhythmia competency required
Must-Have :
- Knowledge of medications and correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition
- Ability to perform comprehensive assessments on all patients and conduct reassessments as per policy
- Ability to revise the plan of care based on patient response to treatment and evaluate effectiveness daily
- Formulates and evaluates teaching plans based on identified learning needs, involving family as appropriate
- Demonstrates pain management assessment techniques and educates patients and families regarding pain management
- Knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identification of dysrhythmias, and appropriate reporting
- Professional communication with healthcare team members regarding patient care
- Ability to assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical skills
- Ability to address psychosocial, cultural, and religious / spiritual needs of patients and families
- Maintains documentation that meets current standards and policies, ensuring accuracy and legibility
- Operates equipment safely and coordinates patient care effectively
Description :
The ICU Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care in the intensive care setting.
The nurse communicates with physicians and coworkers about changes in patient clinical conditions.
They respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
The nurse performs general nursing duties across departments with adequate supervision.
They demonstrate competency in medication administration and patient assessments.
The nurse revises care plans as indicated by patient responses and evaluates their effectiveness daily.
Teaching plans are created to address identified learning needs, with family involvement when appropriate.
The nurse engages in pain management assessments and educates patients and families on effective techniques.
They monitor cardiac rhythms, identify dysrhythmias, and report findings appropriately.
Professional communication with the nursing director, coworkers, and physicians is essential.
Collaboration with other health care departments provides an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs.
Care is provided based on the patients' age and condition, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
The nurse assists physicians during procedures and performs necessary technical and manual skills.
Flexibility and organizational skills are crucial in this high-stress environment.
The nurse treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
They identify psychosocial needs and communicate with social services regarding discharge needs.
The nurse manages and operates equipment correctly and requests repairs as necessary.
