Job description
Summary :
This position supports the Leadership team in the Respiratory Care Services department at Chester County hospital and Healthcare system leadership in the clinical implementation and evaluation of Respiratory Care Services. Respiratory Care Supervisor is responsible for ensuring annual competencies, required certifications, ongoing continuing education and support for Respiratory Therapists under their direct report and acts in absence of the Director and Clinical Manager. Supervisor will function in a staff role on a routine basis and as necessary.
Responsibilities :
Demonstrates sound judgment, leadership and professionalism at all times.
Supports the supervision of shift activities and assignments of respiratory care personnel, while taking a patient care assignment.
Acts as a resource for respiratory care staff during the shift, as well as the health care team throughout the hospital.
Serves as a role model and advocates a highly efficient, accountable and collaborative team environment between staff and with physicians. Delivers the highest standards of patient safety and quality of care.
Oversees and maintains departmental programs by developing and revising clinical policies and procedures and assisting with department quality assurance, review and audit documentation and control.
Works closely with the Clinical Manager and other departments to identify gaps and solutions in clinical systems and processes.
Assist with RT departmental schedule and call outs.
Assist with staff competencies and in-services.
Oversee equipment processing and supplies as needed to meet patient care demands.
Resolve problems when systems deviate from the established performance specification.
Address employee concerns, conflicts, and customer-related issues according to hospital policy.
Work schedule will consist of 4- 9 hour shifts, 1 of 5 weekends, no holidays.
Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization
Credentials :
Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Required)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Required)
Respiratory Therapist (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience :
Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
Respiratory Care, other health science, education or business 3+ years Critical Care experience including Level 3 NICU experience Or Currently enrolled in Bachelor of Science program.
Master of Arts or Science (Preferred)
Respiratory Care, other health science, education or business Previous leadership experience in a respiratory care or pulmonary diagnostics lab preferred.
