Description
The Security Support Supervisor is directly responsible for all personnel and work in the department, and will manage the assigned unit as a team leader in a manner that gets employee input, is customer oriented and cost effective. This person shall possess exceptional knowledge and demonstrate remarkable skills in the particular field, and have the ability to carry out assignments and perform good quality work with minimum supervision. Shall also demonstrate outstanding qualities in efficiency, initiative and dependability when completing various tasks.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Supervise, set, and lead by example the work standard of the assigned unit, and personnel regarding quality, quantity, and customer satisfaction
- Purchase all materials and equipment for efficient unit operation, observing purchasing schedules and regulations
- Assist in the hiring and performance management of personnel
- Assure compliance with all applicable safety standards
- Review and assist employees with their goals in their Classified Employee Performance Appraisal
- Maintain required data for unit function and accountability
- Prepare, monitor, and update the unit's long-range project plan
- Ability to prepare, submit, monitor the unit's annual budget and operate within the approved budget
- Implement effective / efficient methods for completing jobs on schedule, utilizing materials, and job satisfaction for both employee and customer
- The position also requires after hours trips to buildings for a variety of concerns including equipment failure, meetings with building personnel, and response to emergency situations
- Attendance at required meetings and in-service training
- Responsible for overseeing assigned service vehicles, and all tools, parts, and materials used for job performance
- Possess a work ethic that is strongly oriented toward both efficiency and customer service
- Accept the responsibility for assisting with the training, skill development and supervision of other team members.
- Assist in maintaining good public relations, being cognizant that a Supervisor represents both the Facilities Division and Wichita Public Schools.
- Cooperate with other employees and maintain good public relations inside and outside of his / her assignment.
- Display willingness to be trained in all phases of the assignment and to increase his / her skills, thus, qualifying for advancement.
- Possess a work ethic that is strongly oriented toward both efficiency and customer service.
- Maintain appropriate licenses and certifications including a valid Kansas driver's license at all times throughout employment.
- Possess superior knowledge of procedures, materials and equipment utilized in the designated area while displaying good workmanship, planning, and leadership.
- Manage and support systems and software including, but not limited to, Napco security system, PSIM software and Continental security systems.
- Support the organizational goals, the mission of the School Service Center and the district.
- Work cooperatively with others and assist in maintaining open lines of communication.
Additional Duties
Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Director.
Equipment
The employee must demonstrate the ability to maintain and support various security systems to support facilities and security as needed. This position may require the ability to use iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use.
Travel
Travel between schools and central offices will be required. Use of personal vehicle will be required for fast, prompt service.
