Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to support full-cycle payroll processing for their organization. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll execution while maintaining strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Payroll Administrator works closely with departmental payroll contacts, maintains accurate records, and supports the overall fiscal operations of the organization. Confidentiality and accuracy are essential. This role typically does not involve supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll information, timecards, and adjustments received from multiple departments.
- Review and verify accuracy of payroll forms, personnel changes, and supporting documentation.
- Reconcile weekly payroll reports against system-generated data to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain and monitor garnishment records and related deductions.
- Enter, update, and retrieve payroll and employee information within an automated payroll / HRIS system.
- Input payroll transactions, including earnings, deductions, and accrued benefits.
- Run final payroll after verifying all data and generate checks or direct deposit files.
- Sort, distribute, or coordinate delivery of payroll checks as needed.
- Prepare and submit all required payroll reports for internal and external use.
- Manage all payroll deductions and ensure timely submissions to appropriate agencies.
- Perform related payroll and administrative tasks as needed to support the finance team.
Qualifications & Skills
Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and compliance requirements.Proficiency with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and related data-processing applications.Solid understanding of general office practices and computer software (Microsoft Office preferred).Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to handle questions from employees and departments professionally.Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.Demonstrated reliability, good judgment, and strong attention to detail.Ability to interact with staff and the public with tact and courtesy.Minimum Education & Experience
A candidate may qualify through one of the following paths :
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting, ORAssociate degree in Business Administration or Accounting and 2 years of full-cycle payroll experience, ORHigh school diploma / GED and 4 years of full-time clerical experience that includes full-cycle payroll processing.
