Position Summary

As the Addictions Coordinator, Psychiatric Social Worker with Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center you follow the clinical care journey for patients. You collaborate closely with the Nurse Manager and Clinical Director, driving the seamless implementation of patient care plans from admission to discharge. This role champions innovation to optimize patient outcomes and cost-efficiency, demanding persuasive communication skills to influence and garner support for transformative ideas, both within and beyond their immediate team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of patients and families, addressing emotional, social, and environmental factors affecting mental health.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to craft individualized treatment plans aligned with patient goals.
  • Provide evidence-based individual and family counseling to address emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Offer immediate crisis intervention for acute distress or psychiatric emergencies.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and available community resources to bolster coping skills and recovery.
  • Plan for safe and effective discharge, ensuring appropriate levels of care or community resources are arranged.
  • Engage in advocacy to support patients and families within the healthcare system and community.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and treatment planning sessions.
  • Maintain rigorous and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in compliance with hospital and legal guidelines.
  • Pursue continuous professional development to stay current with pediatric mental health advancements and evidence-based practices.

Education & Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited college / university.
  • MSW required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year clinical experience in substance abuse and psychiatric illness.
  • Experience in both individual and group therapy.
  • Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Maryland License as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Certified (LCSW-C).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Salary Range : Minimum $31.45 per hour - Maximum $55.51 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

    In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
