Keep CNC Production Running Strong on 3rd Shift

Express Employment is hiring a CNC Equipment Reliability Specialist for a direct hire role with a local manufacturing client in Howell, MI. You will own the health of CNC machines and facility mechanical systems on 3rd shift, keeping production moving and issues resolved before the day begins.

A night in the life

Your shift begins at 10 : 00 pm. You review turnover, power up assigned areas, and run through start-up checks. A belt sounds off? You inspect tension and alignment. A hydraulic leak shows up? You isolate, replace seals, and verify pressure. An axis faults? You diagnose the electrical chain, from wiring and switches to drives and PLC I / O, then test a clean restart. Throughout the night, you work through scheduled PMs, respond to maintenance calls, and document everything so handoff at 6 : 30 am is seamless.

What you will take on

  • Execute preventive maintenance for building and production mechanical equipment on defined daily, weekly, and monthly intervals; maintain accurate records and checklists.
  • Inspect belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, grease bearings and seals, and complete mechanical testing.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues including broken or loose conductors, shorts, faulty switches, and component failures.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults such as worn components, lubrication deficiencies, air leaks, or failed cylinders; perform rebuilds as needed.
  • Monitor start-up of assigned areas, correct issues found during start-up, complete work orders, and respond to maintenance calls quickly.
  • Manage and organize the spare parts crib; keep documentation current.
  • Support equipment moves, projects, machine rebuilds, and CNC installations and commissioning.
  • Apply hydraulic and pneumatic expertise safely and efficiently; adhere to LOTO and confined space procedures.

Tools and technologies you will encounter

  • CNC mills (3–4 axis VMC) with Fanuc controls
  • CNC lathes (2–4 axis)
  • Fanuc PLCs and industrial automation systems

    • Your background

  • Strong equipment troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics proficiency.
  • Comfort with 120 / 208 / 240 / 480 VAC and high-voltage systems; skilled in electrical diagnostics and repair.
  • Motor replacement, repair, and preventive maintenance; industrial motors and motor controls knowledge preferred.
  • CNC machine repair and installation; troubleshooting CNC machines and controls.
  • CNC and PLC troubleshooting experience; controls knowledge preferred.
  • Industrial lift truck troubleshooting and repair.
  • Industrial robot programming exposure and troubleshooting of automation equipment.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
  • Current LOTO certification and familiarity with confined space practices.

  • 3rd shift : Monday–Friday, 10 : 00 pm–6 : 30 am
  • Weekend overtime as needed

  • Pay based on experience; typically 27–32 per hour, with flexibility for the right candidate
