Job Description
Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm based in Raleigh, NC, has been engaged by a Raleigh-based subcontractor to conduct a search for an Operations Manager.
Reporting to the COO, the Operations Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple ready-mix and construction projects. This role provides day-to-day leadership to ensure production, safety, and quality standards are met while driving operational efficiency across plants, dispatch, field employees, and drivers. The Operations Manager will act as a strategic leader, collaborating with project teams, vendors, and clients to deliver excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Mentor, train, and evaluate team members, including plant managers, dispatch, field staff, and drivers.
- Facilitate communication across departments and promote a collaborative work environment.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Project Execution & Planning
Oversee execution of concrete projects including foundations, slabs, walls, and structural elements.Coordinate with general contractors, engineers, and project managers on sequencing and scheduling.Resolve project issues promptly to minimize delays.Operations & Resource Management
Direct daily field operations, including labor, equipment, and material dispatch.Manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to meet project goals.Conduct site planning meetings and track equipment usage and maintenance.Quality & Safety Compliance
Enforce OSHA and environmental safety standards.Monitor quality control, ensuring compliance with NCDOT, ACI, NRMCA, and company standards.Conduct site inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.Client & Vendor Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients throughout the project lifecycle.Negotiate vendor contracts, pricing, and service agreements.Address and resolve customer inquiries promptly.Reporting & Analysis
Review production reports and key performance metrics.Recommend operational improvements and strategic adjustments.Provide input to ownership and leadership on business performance.Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in concrete operations or construction management.Proven leadership and team management skills with ability to motivate cross-functional teams.Strong understanding of concrete construction techniques and industry standards.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.OSHA safety certification preferred.Ability to work across office and field settings, with occasional travel to job sites.
