Licensed Counselor and Multicultural Specialist

Requisition Number : 67495

Location : Boulder Colorado

Employment Type : University Staff

Schedule : Full Time

Posting Close Date : 08-Oct-2025

Date Posted : Job Summary

The Division of Employee Health and Wellness encourages applications for a Licensed Counselor and Multicultural Specialist! Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) provides free and confidential short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and organizational influence to promote a psychologically healthy campus to University of Colorado Boulder faculty and staff looking for support around any number of unique and affecting personal- and work-related matters. FSAP does not serve students.

This position serves as a generalist therapist, providing clinical services to all university employees across a wide range of concerns and identities. In addition to generalist duties, this role will bring a strong multicultural and equity-informed lens to clinical work, with particular attention to employees from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who may have historically experienced limited access to mental health care.

This position will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of how individuals' diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and social environments may affect mental health, and will apply this awareness in the delivery of respectful, culturally informed, and client-centered care.

While this is not a training-focused role, this position may also provide informal consultation and insight to FSAP staff to support the office's ongoing commitment to inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive services.

CU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment. We are committed to creating a workplace where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, and we encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Who We Are

FSAP meets the psychological needs and well-being of university employees by providing culturally relevant counseling (1 : 1, couples, families), advising, and educational workshops through in-person, virtual, and hybrid modalities. We are a team of multicultural, multidisciplinary, and multi-theoretical providers who are committed to affirming differing human experiences and identities, and who seek to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all whom we encounter. We are proud to offer all our services at no cost, reducing one barrier to access to mental health care.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Direct Services :

Provide culturally responsive individual, couples, and family counseling to staff and faculty that considers a diverse set of backgrounds and identities. Services are primarily offered within a brief therapy framework.

Identify and engage employees from diverse cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including those historically underrepresented or underserved in mental health care.

Provide crisis intervention, including suicide assessment and collaboration with the campus Threat Assessment team.

Collaborate with university departments and employee resource groups to enhance awareness and access to mental health resources.

Offer psycho-educational workshops, presentations, or supportive groups, including teaching skills in growing healthy relationships, families, and parenting.

Indirect Services :

Complete session notes, intake documents, and other clinical and administrative documentation in a timely manner.

Attend regular supervision with the clinical supervisor.

Provide informal support to master's level counseling interns.

Contribute to other mission-relevant administrative duties as assigned.

Professional Development and Personal Growth :

Participate in department relevant committees.

Engage in self-work needed to uncover and dismantle personal biases that may be interruptive to the work of a counselor and interpersonal effectiveness.

Attend professional development workshops and conferences, especially those that advance subject matter expertise in couples and families, as well as higher education and employee assistance programs.

Fulfill other assigned job duties in support of the FSAP office and leadership.

What You Should Know

This position has the ability to work in a hybrid work modality, and has an anticipated work schedule of Monday - Friday during regular business hours. This role is not expected to work University recognized holidays, weekends, or evenings, or maintain on-call duties.
