Responsibilities

ECS is offering an exciting opportunity for a Structural Forensic Department Manager to join our Florida Facilities team in Miami, FL. In this role, you'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality consulting solutions to a diverse range of facilities and clients. As a Department Manager, you strive to lead both your team and your profits. You have extensive experience both out on the field as well as handling the "business" side of facilities inspection. Engineers, inspectors, and project managers look to you for mentoring both technically and in building client relationships. You know how to set the bar high and not only achieve that goal yourself - but bring others along with you. You are extremely hard working and strive to ensure that your team delivers the best quality. You get the "big" picture and want to contribute accordingly - and that's why you'll have all the opportunity for career growth within our company you'll want.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee a department focused on Structural Systems
  • Prepare and review repair drawings, technical specifications, structural calculations, and forensic analysis narratives for structural rehabilitation projects
  • Lead the investigation and design of repair solutions for distressed, deteriorated, or failing elements such as concrete structures, facades, parking decks, and occupied building components
  • Coordinate with legal teams, ownership groups, and insurance stakeholders to provide expert insight on technical findings, liability, and remediation strategies
  • Oversee construction-phase services including field observations, RFI responses, submittal reviews, payment application assessments, and evaluation of change orders
  • Serve as the owner's advocate during the repair process, integrating technical consulting with construction oversight to ensure design intent is executed
  • Issue and review site-visit reports summarizing observations, compliance with specifications, and resolution of construction deficiencies
  • Position the Structural Forensics team as a trusted resource for diagnostics, repair design, and construction-phase oversight of building restoration and rehabilitation projects
  • Encourage cross-discipline collaboration with the Building Envelope and PCA teams to enable multi-service project delivery and internal growth
  • Monitor key business metrics including backlog, resource allocation, utilization, and profitability to ensure department performance aligns with strategic goals
  • Demonstrate strong technical oversight and client advocacy throughout all phases of structural investigation, design, and repair implementation
  • Involvement with inspections of forensic evaluations, structural investigations and design and other related inspections and professional services
  • Provide litigation support, including involvement with 558 claims and related forensic evaluations
  • Project management, proposal and report review and preparations, and as the department continues to evolve, lead and mentor staff engineers and inspectors
  • Lead marketing and business development functions in this market sector
  • Aggressively expand a group of engineers, certified inspectors, and technicians involved with structural systems
  • Oversee quality control, report review and management of projects related to structural systems
  • P&L responsibility for the department

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant structural engineering experience

  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required; Special Inspector (SI) certification preferred

Why Join ECS?

  • Opportunity to lead high-impact projects with technical complexity and visibility.
  • Be part of a growing and innovative team focused on technical excellence and client service.
  • Supportive work environment that values expertise, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Competitive salary, performance bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.
