Surgical Tech First Assistant – Waco, TX

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Temp, with extension opportunities)

Location : Waco, TX

Schedule : 3x12s, 7 : 00am–7 : 00pm (Day shift)

Requirements :

BLS (AHA)

Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA – NBSTSA)

Minimum 4 years of experience

Position Overview :

This role combines responsibilities of a Certified Surgical Technologist and a First Assistant, working closely with surgeons and surgical teams during complex procedures. The First Assistant will help prepare the operating room, maintain sterile fields, assist with patient positioning and draping, and directly support the surgeon during surgery. Duties may include tying off vessels, suturing, cauterizing tissue, stabilizing drains, and applying dressings in accordance with Texas scope of practice.

• Strong knowledge of anatomy, surgical instrumentation, and OR protocols
• Ability to anticipate surgeon and team needs during procedures
• Skilled in preparing specialty instrument trays and equipment
• Effective communication and collaboration across surgical and hospital teams
• Ability to serve as a resource and preceptor for other staff
