Job descriptionMD or DO degree. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine. Graduate of an accredited Family Medicine Residency Program. Licensed or eligible for licensure in Illinois. DEA license (or eligibility) required. Commitment to serving multicultural and underserved populations. Willingness to participate in inpatient and obstetrical call. Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Informed by market data, internal equity, and budget considerations. Additional incentive compensation may be available for clinical work beyond standard responsibilities.
Position Overview
Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIU SOM) seeks a Family Medicine Physician with Obstetrics to join our Decatur Residency Program and affiliated Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This faculty position offers a meaningful mix of clinical care, teaching, and community engagement — serving a diverse patient population while mentoring residents and medical students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide both outpatient and inpatient family medicine, including obstetrical care.
- Supervise and teach residents and medical students in clinic and hospital settings.
- Lead teaching rounds on hospitalized and OB patients.
- Participate in academic activities such as lectures, seminars, and conferences.
- Serve on departmental, residency, and hospital committees and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Support and participate in research and scholarly projects.
