Description : The unit is a high-impact, fast-paced nursing environment. It addresses challenging patient-care issues. Nurses work collaboratively with care management, surgical and medical services, rehabilitation services, and perioperative services. The unit handles multi-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, and various medical and surgical conditions. There is a focus on bariatric surgery, providing care to patients undergoing weight-loss operations. Patient care includes both step-down and floor levels, allowing nurses to experience breadth and depth in their practice. Nurse-to-patient ratios are maintained at 1 : 6 for floor patients and 1 : 3 for step-down patients. Nurses must be able to read cardiac strips and verify monitor tech findings. Weekend and holiday work is required, with a floating requirement to similar units. The dress code is royal blue scrubs. The unit aims to provide comprehensive and quality care to all patients.
