Accounting Clerk
Overview :
Our client is seeking an Accounting Clerk to perform clerical accounting duties involving cash handling, reconciliations, billing, and general financial recordkeeping. This role requires accuracy, organization, and the ability to work independently within an established accounting system. Strong customer service skills and professionalism are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, process, and deposit cash, checks, and department revenues.
Input transactions, verify payments, and reconcile receipts; research and resolve discrepancies.
Classify and code transactions, post disbursements, and reconcile bank statements.
Prepare vendor checks, maintain check registers, and support documentation.
Perform billing and accounting tasks using department-specific software.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Maintain accurate records, files, and financial documentation.
Provide customer service in person, by phone, and via email; assist with forms and inquiries.
Support scheduling, facility rentals, and public notifications as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and follow department policies and procedures.
Qualifications
High school diploma required
Up to 1 year of experience may be substituted with 30 credits in accounting, finance, or business.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and standard office equipment.
Strong accuracy in computations, reconciliations, and handling monetary transactions.
Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain cooperative relationships.
Must handle confidential information responsibly and reliably.
