The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Pediatrics , Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine , is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide the assessment and care coordination for pediatric emergency patients and families and for assuring high standards and efficient care across the care continuum, participating in quality improvement, education and research. This position is located in Milwaukee , WI at Children's Wisconsin - Milwaukee Campus . The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

Position Highlights :

• Order, perform and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and test and appropriately communicate and document information.
• Acquire information on the most current developments and trends in the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant fields in pediatric emergency medicine through educational programs, in-services, professional associations and literature.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, research initiatives and / or clinical trials as directed by the pediatric emergency medicine leadership
• Perform procedures including suturing, splinting, abscess drainage, child sexual abuse exams and lumbar punctures.

Striving to provide the best care for kids, the pediatric emergency medicine team consists of thirty-four board-certified faculty physicians, eight fellows (increasing to nine fellows in 2024), eleven physician assistants, and six nurse practitioners. Administrative support includes a division administrator, data analyst, clinical research manager, clinical research coordinators, administrative assistants, and an education program coordinator. In addition to academic duties at the Medical College of Wisconsin, the faculty and fellows serve as attending physicians in the Children's Wisconsin Emergency Department.

The team provides pediatric trauma care to approximately 75,000 patients annually from Wisconsin and the Midwest. In October 2023, the new Skywalk Building opened featuring a new Pediatric Emergency Department and Level 1 Trauma Center, pediatric and neonatal transport team, and Skywalk retail pharmacy.
