The Engineering Director in Training is a developmental role designed for a skilled, hands‑on engineering professional who is ready to take the next step toward a Director of Engineering position. The hybrid role combines technical journeyman responsibilities with leadership training, providing exposure to all facets of hotel engineering management at Grand Hyatt San Francisco.

Responsibilities

Operational & Technical Duties

• Perform hands‑on maintenance and repair of hotel systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and kitchen equipment.
• Participate in and lead daily engineering operations, ensuring prompt completion of guestroom and public area maintenance requests.
• Support energy conservation initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability standards.
• Oversee vendor relationships and supervise contractors performing work on‑site to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion.
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas to ensure compliance with brand and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance requests, preventive maintenance programs, and asset management logs.
• Ensure all work is completed according to Hyatt safety and cleanliness standards and city, state, and federal codes.
