A minimum of 2 years of RN experience is required, along with at least 1 completed travel assignment. Previous ICU or Intermediate Intensive Care experience with a patient ratio of at least 1 : 3 is necessary. Nurses are expected to have proficiency in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Ventilator experience is required along with medication management skills, including the titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips. The patient population includes adults with trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases that require monitoring or interventions every 1 to 2 hours. Nurses may float to other units as required by operational needs and must be qualified for those units. Experience with electronic medical records is preferable, with a minimum of 1 year of experience required. The facility is recognized for nursing excellence and is a key teaching site for advanced specialty programs. Special equipment available includes patient repositioners and ceiling lifts. The unit receives direct admissions and ICU transfers. Nurses will work with interdisciplinary support teams, including IV teams, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Additional skills required include the care of ventilated patients, management of craniotomy patients, and experience with cerebrovascular accidents. Medication titration skills, particularly for cardiac and vasoactive drips, are essential for managing patient care effectively. Travelers must comply with all necessary documentation and pre-assignment requirements as part of the hiring process.
