Hybrid Position
This is a hybrid position requiring in-office work three days every week. Ideally, the position will be based in the Buffalo, NY office but it might be based at an M&T office in Baltimore, MD or Bridgeport, CT, if needed.
Overview
In this role, the incumbent will contribute to the delivery of macroeconomic scenarios used to inform financial forecasting and assessments of capital adequacy. This individual is expected to contribute to economic research and analysis projects supporting the compilation of reporting / recommendations to senior management that will eventually be used to inform financial forecasts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and publication of macroeconomic scenarios informing financial forecasting and assessments of capital adequacy.
- Supports ongoing monitoring of macroeconomic scenario forecasts against actuals in support of financial and capital planning processes.
- Perform problem solving, processing, and analysis supporting review of macroeconomic conditions to provide senior management with economic trend data and recommendations for use in financial forecasting processes.
- Contribute to the production of management reporting highlighting key aspects of macroeconomic scenarios.
- Display basic proficiency in the systems / tools used to generate standard management reports on a periodic basis.
- Apply foundational finance and economic concepts through the aggregation of macroeconomic data.
- Participate in training and development opportunities across the Finance division and among supported businesses / activities.
- Be aware and adhere to department timelines and deliverables.
- Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required
Associate's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in economics, finance, accounting, auditing, operations or financial institutions OR a Bachelor's degree.Knowledge of activities in own job; skills gained through training or experienceHigh level of PC competencies (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access. Data visualization or data querying applications such as PowerBI)Education and Experience Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting or related field is highly preferred.Economics / Finance work experience.M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $24.76 - $41.27 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
