Job descriptionU.S. citizenship is required. Possess a valid driver's license. Carry and use a firearm; firearm proficiency is mandatory. Be at least 21 years old at application and under 37 at conditional job offer, unless prior federal law enforcement service applies. Veterans' preference applicants must receive a conditional offer before age 40 to continue. Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance. Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20 / 100 binocular; corrected visual acuity of 20 / 20 or better in each eye. Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in each ear across specified frequencies. Undergo drug testing prior to appointment and random testing thereafter. Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC in Glynco, GA, and 18 weeks at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD. Sign a mobility agreement to accept assignments nationwide and abroad. Register with the Selective Service System or be exempt if male and born after December 31, 1959. Duties
During their careers, special agents carry out assignments in both investigations and protection, with potential postings across the U.S. and abroad. Responsibilities include :
- Providing protection for various protectees.
- Conducting criminal investigations related to financial obligations of the United States.
- Planning and executing security measures for National Special Security Events.
