Job Summary :
Assists in construction inspection under general supervision. Knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in the construction field. Possesses general knowledge of related fields and areas of operation which affect, or are affected by construction inspection, including civil engineering and surveying.
Accountability and Duties :
Attends various meetings as needed related to assigned construction projectsSubmit detailed documentation of daily construction activitiesAssist with coordination of required project acceptance testingPerform materials inspection and acceptance prior to installationPoint out potential problems to the contractor and project engineer, and keep project engineer and supervisor informed of progress of projectPerform specific installation tasks, field measurements and assigned dutiesInterpret and implement company and department mandated safety policiesResponsible for job specific quality system tasksSubmits extensive written reports and documentationCompletes and files construction reports and logs dailyMaintains a good relationship with clients, sub consultants, municipalities and contractorsAssists with all CM activities Develops and improves the contract admin processConducts on site observations and resolves construction admin problemsKeeps supervisor informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional servicesProvides an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a weekly basisQualification Requirements :

Education and / or Experience :
High school / GED, minimum of 2 + years experience in related field.

Must be familiar with Public Works Standard SpecificationsMust be a good communicatorAble to read plans and have a good understanding of project specificationsMust have basic math skills to assist with measurements and computations of installed quantitiesMust have an ability to operate a level and have an understanding of cut and fills and elevations for gradesAvailable to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessaryAbility to design / engineer moderately difficult engineering projectsDemonstrated project management skills and multitasking are essentialAbility to make independent decisions within a general frameworkKnowledge of industry related softwareMust be fluent in the English languagePhysical Demands :
Must be able to read reports and use the computer. Must hear well enough to communicate with coworkers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand / walk, climb / stoop / kneel, lift / pull / push, grasp / feel. Must be able to write, type, and use phone system. Frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 125 pounds.
