MedSurg RN – Unit Overview\n\nLocation : Ski resort town – candidates must confirm housing research in writing\nRadius Rule : 50 miles (permanent address required with submission)\n\nUnit : MedSurg – 2nd Floor\nBeds : 19 (2 overflow critical care rooms with pressor support if needed)\nRatios : Acuity-based | Avg census 9 | Max 1 : 5 | Typically 4 RNs M–F each shift\n\nRequirements\n\nCertifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS\nExperience : 2 years MedSurg + Peds MS | Strong ortho / post-op experience\nMust-Have Skills : Ortho totals, trauma, surgical care, tele interpretation, wound care\nDrips : Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, initiate pressors (Levo / Norepi) prior to transfer\n\nPatient Types / Common Diagnoses\n\nPeds–Geriatric post-op, ortho / trauma (ski injuries, fractures, total joints), GYN surgical, vapotherm, high-flow, COVID, SBO, chest tubes, drains, wound care, telemetry.\n\nStaffing & Support\n\nCharge Nurse : Yes (no assignment typically; may take 2–3 if needed)\n\nCNA : 1–2 days / 1 nights\n\nVirtual Care Team : Admissions / discharges, tele-ICU capability\n\nTele : RNs interpret strips (tech assists only)\n\nRT : Vent support for stabilization, Vapotherm, CPAP, BiPAP\n\nSchedule\n\nShifts : 7a–7p / 7p–7a | Self- scheduling\nWeekends / Holidays : Equitably shared\nCall : 2 shifts per contract\nFloating : Helping hands / safety attendant only (no full assignments on other units)\nScrubs : Any color\nOrientation : 2 shifts
