Candidates for this opening must have Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification in the State of Florida. If you lack this license or it has expired, but have previously held PLS certification in Florida or another state, we could consider you if you live in Florida and could obtain this certification within the first 90 days of employment.
This position requires weekly office hours in our client's Fort Walton Beach office. Candidates unable to work from this office should not apply.
Role Summary We’re seeking a seasoned professional to lead and oversee geospatial data collection and mapping initiatives across a variety of development projects, including urban, suburban, and mixed-use environments. This leadership role is central to ensuring precision, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency in all surveying activities.
Candidate Profile Ideal candidates will bring a strong foundation in land measurement sciences, current professional licensure in Florida, and hands-on experience managing survey operations. A background in engineering, geography, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
Required Expertise & Credentials
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification in the State of Florida
- 5–7 years of field and office experience in land measurement and mapping
- Proficiency in CAD-based platforms, especially for terrain modeling and boundary delineation
- Familiarity with legal frameworks governing land use and property boundaries
- Demonstrated leadership in team coordination and project execution
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and execution of site measurement activities across diverse property typesGuide technical teams in data acquisition, processing, and documentationConduct thorough reviews of mapping outputs, legal descriptions, and title documentationOversee the transformation of raw field data into actionable deliverables using CAD and GIS toolsCollaborate with project managers to develop cost estimates and scheduling plansManage financial aspects of survey engagements, including proposals, billing, and collectionsPerform advanced boundary analysis and generate topographic, utility, and infrastructure mapsMentor junior staff and contribute to professional development within the departmentCoordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure seamless project deliveryUphold organizational standards and ensure compliance with internal protocolsReporting Structure
