Responsibilities :

The Deputy Fleet Manager for Shipping and Logistics plays a critical role in the success of the Global Autonomous Reconnaissance Craft (GARC) program by managing and executing the international shipment of spare parts, components, and equipment. This position ensures that all shipments, including hazardous materials (HAZMAT), are transported safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with U.S. and international regulations. Work closely with logistics, supply chain, engineering, and field support teams to maintain fleet readiness worldwide.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Serve as the primary logistics point of contact for GARC customers and internal stakeholders regarding all shipments and deliveries.
  • Coordinate preparation, packaging, labeling, and shipment of vessels, support equipment, and materials—including hazardous goods—according to regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit shipping documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, bills of lading, DD1149s, export compliance forms) to support successful delivery and invoicing.
  • Track and manage all in-transit shipments, resolving delays or issues in coordination with freight forwarders, customs agents, and receiving teams.
  • Ensure full compliance with U.S. and international shipping regulations including ITAR, EAR, IATA, and DOT hazardous materials requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IPS, training, supply chain, production) to forecast shipping needs and support field operations.
  • Assist in planning and executing logistics support for large-scale training events and test campaigns, including the transportation of GARCs, chase boats, and personnel.
  • Conduct or support inspection, documentation, and reconciliation upon receipt of goods at customer or internal locations.
  • Maintain accurate shipping logs, documentation archives, and audit-ready records.

Requirements

  • Experience in international shipping, logistics, or supply chain (defense preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of HAZMAT shipping requirements (49 CFR, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, IMDG Code).
  • Familiarity with U.S. export regulations (EAR, ITAR) and international customs practices. Proven experience preparing shipping and customs documentation for international shipments.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously under tight timelines; coordination skills to support internal teams and customer-facing logistics interactions.
  • Desired :

  • Certified Dangerous Goods Shipping (DG / Hazmat) certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience with DD1149s, bills of lading, and commercial / military freight documentation is highly desired.
  • Proficiency with shipping / tracking software and Microsoft Office Suite.
